Jewish Life

At Wise School, we create deep, enjoyable, and relevant Jewish experiences that foster a love and understanding of Jewish customs, tradition, and the land of Israel.

Wise School seeks to fulfill its mission as the premier Jewish Day School in Los Angeles by integrating Jewish teachings, rituals, and values into everyday activities, helping children understand that Judaism is an essential component of our lives, something we do every minute of every day. As such, Judaism represents an essential component of the curriculum, enabling students to experience wholeness throughout the day, but especially when celebrating Kabbalat Shabbat, participating in invigorating and uplifting services and by emphasizing their connection to Israel.

Through active participation in all aspects of Jewish life experiences, our children make great happen seamlessly with finesse and elegance.

hebrew immersion

One of the highlights of Aaron Milken Center is the option to enroll your child in a two year Hebrew immersion program. Unique to the Wise community, our curriculum emphasizes Hebrew as a modern language aligning with studies that prove becoming bilingual has a positive effect on students’ intellectual growth in all subject areas. Students are immersed in the beauty, tradition and sophistication of the language while learning to speak, read, and write Hebrew with natural fluency. Designed for Jewish students in the Diaspora, our program will always feel relevant to children’s lives and cultural backgrounds. Hebrew is introduced in a nurturing, creative environment fostering basic skills through the same emergent curriculum and benchmark goals laid out in our English-speaking program. As fluency increases, students experience more hands-on projects to gain a deeper foundation. In upper grades, our program expands communication skills building on listening, speaking, reading and writing proficiency.

“As someone who was privileged to have a Jewish education growing up, Aaron Milken Center excites me beyond words. There is nothing more important than imparting our Jewish values and traditions to our young families and their children from an early age. Our program provides a unique opportunity to help shape our children’s identities and forge lifelong friendships with a great sense of belonging and community.”
